CANINE WELLNESS CARE
Disease affects all life stages, not just older pets.

Detect disease before your pet shows clinical signs of a problem
Just like you, we want your dog to live the longest, healthiest life possible. That starts with the basics: quality food, enough exercise, good grooming, and yes, regular check-ups.
Because annual exams are your dog’s first line of defense, Southwind Animal Hospital offers three levels of wellness packages for dogs.
Our Canine Wellness Package includes a comprehensive exam, chemistry panel with complete blood count, infectious disease testing, fecal test, urinalysis and core vaccines if due.
Our Canine Wellness Package Plus includes all of the above plus thyroid testing and a more comprehensive blood screening of internal organs.
Our Canine Wellness Package Prime Life includes all of the above plus three-view chest radiographs and two-view abdominal radiographs.
From puppies to senior citizens, we monitor your dog’s changing medical needs with preventative care packages just for them.

Chemistry Profile and Complete Blood Count (CBC)
A blood chemistry profile provides information about your dog’s kidneys, liver and pancreas; as well as other functions of the body, such as blood sugar and hydration. A CBC can identify infection, inflammation and anemia.
SDMA
SDMA is an advanced early detection screening specific for kidney function loss.
Infectious Disease Testing
This screening identifies whether your dog has been exposed to heartworms or other important tick-borne diseases.
Fecal Test
This test checks for intestinal parasites that may live in your dog’s gastrointestinal tract. Since they are usually hidden from view, the only way to detect and identify most intestinal parasites is by doing a fecal test.
Thyroid Function Test (Total T4)
A thyroid function test detects whether or not your dog’s thyroid gland is functioning properly. Thyroid disease is very common in older cats and dogs.
Complete Urinalysis
This analysis assesses the overall health of your dog’s urinary tract including the kidney and bladder. It identifies infection or inflammation in the urinary tract.
Three-view Chest Radiographs
Chest Radiographs are used as a first-line evaluation of disease in the chest cavity. The three views allow for locating metastatic cancers or other pulmonary concerns within all lung fields.
Two-view Abdominal Radiographs
Abdominal radiographs can help to evaluate the size, shape, and position of abdominal organs as a screening tool for diseases originating from the abdomen.
